Overview

As you navigate along the meandering path of the mighty Sepik, you are immersed in a world untouched by time. The lush swamplands, dense tropical rainforests, and majestic mountains that line the 1126km river create a truly unique environment. But the Sepik is not just a geographical wonder – it is a vibrant hub of diverse cultures, endangered languages, and exquisite artistry found nowhere else in the Pacific. Every turn reveals a new facet of this enchanting landscape – from the grand spirit houses of the haus tambarans to the diverse bird species, tranquil lagoons, and charming stilt villages dotting the riverbanks. It's easy to lose yourself in the beauty of the surroundings and feel as though you have stepped back in time, embarking on a thrilling adventure beyond the confines of the modern world.

Day 1 :

Arrive in Port Moresby - Depart to Wewak

Arrive in Port Moresby and travel to Wewak, East Sepik Province.

Day 2 :

Travel to Pagwi

Have breakfast, then travel in private transport departing Wewak at 8am for Pagwi. Stop at local markets along the way with a chance to buy some fresh fruits and vegetables. In Pagwi, travel by motor canoe down middle sepik and over night at Kamanibit village.

Day 3 :

Visit the Spirit house at Kamanibit

After breakfast visit the spirit house at Kamanibit. Go to Palimbe Village and Kanganamun Village to visit spirit houses. Then travel to upper sepik to Wagu Lake. Overnight at Wagu Lake Village.

Day 4 :

Birds of Paradise

At 6.30 am go to see Birds of Paradise. After breakfast go to Mariwai and Tongajam to visit the different culture and the spirit houses. Return to Wagu. Have dinner and overnight’ at Wagu Lake Village. There is option of doing Crocodile spotting at night.

Day 5 :

17th Sepik River Crocodile Festival

After breakfast go to see the 17th Sepik River Crocodile Festival and overnight in Ambunti.

Day 6 :

Travel Back to Pagwi

After breakfast get in the motor canoe travel down river to Pagwi and travel back to Wewak.

Day 7 :

Day Tour in Wewak

Day Tour of Wewak or Island Trip

Day 8 :

Travel to Port Moresby

Travel to Port Moresby. Tour, Shopping and Rest.
